Addictive Drums from XLN Audio is a flexible and complete drum production studio and contains everything needed for creating professional drum tracks. The software comprises three building blocks - drum samples and kits, grooves and beats, and production tools (i.e. mixer and effects). 

Addictive Drums features 3 complete kits, along with extra drums and cymbals. The samples include every nuance from the softest to the hardest hits and many stroke variations like rimshot and sidestick. Alternating samples allow for unparalleled realism. 

All the sampled drum and cymbal sounds were recorded with a multi-channel microphone setup, and stored in a multi-channel format. The grooves, beats and fills were recorded by a professional drummer in different styles, tempos and feels. 

The 1.5 version upgrade, dubbed Adrenaline, adds full electronic drum support, General MIDI support, a Beat Transformer function, along with additional presets and MIDI files.

Drum Kits

Tama Kit
    •    Has its roots in the mid 90's when the company first released the Starclassic series with thin shells for superior sound and tone

Sonor Designer Kit

DW Collector Series

Beats and Grooves

    •    Consists of over 3,500 MIDI Beats and Grooves in lots of different styles tempos and feels
    •    Provides the building blocks to create drum tracks quickly, all easily accessible from within the software
    •    Built in browser allows for searching by keyword (ride, metal), or sorting by category (BPM, time signature)
    •    Drag and Drop the files into a favorite list, or drag them right into the host's arrangement window

Mixer, Inserts, Effects and Reverbs
    •    All mixing functions (including inserts and effects) needed to produce professional drum tracks with an easily defined workflow
    •    Mixer provides full control over all audio channels - 12 channels in the mixer, 8 mono channels for the individual kit pieces, and 4 stereo channels for the over head microphones, room microphones, bus and the master
    •    Make the drum kit sound big by turning up the room microphone levels or make it tighter by soloing the close microphones
    •    All channels can be panned
    •    Easily bypass the inserts and sends, or activate solo
    •    Inserts consist of compression, distortion, EQ, tape and limiter and can be used on all the channels and kit pieces
    •    The inserts and kit pieces are not connected so switching kit piece at any time doesn't affect the insert settings


Compressor

    •    Advanced auto gain function always ensures good levels
    •    High compression and a slow attack deliver hard hitting snares
    •    Quick attack and medium long release works great for bus-compression, while a faster release and attack can deliver pumping compression

Distortion

    •    Four different distortion types
    •    Heavy and Crunch are more natural sounding distortions, while Zap and BitCrush have their own unique sounds
    •    Distortion amount can be set for each type as well as a blend level
    •    Filter adjustment allows for distorting a given frequency range

EQ

    •    Three peak/bell filters with cut/gain ranges of -24dB to +24dB and adjustable Q value
    •    Smart editing features include using the mouse wheel to adjust the Q value, while holding shift provides higher precision

Tape / Filter

    •    Bus and master channels include extra insert effects
    •    Tape emulates the sound of a vintage analog tape unit with saturation and bass enhancement controls
    •    Filter allows for cutting bass or treble after the insert effects to clean up the low end or go for a softer sound with less high frequency

Saturating Limiter

    •    Available on every channel
    •    Can be used to squash peaks or to give individual drums or any of the buses an overall soft distortion

Reverb

    •    Two reverbs with four different room types
    •    Ambience is a short reverb type that delivers a wider sound without a long tail
    •    Room is a medium sized room with a longer decay
    •    Hall is a big room that allows for a really long tail of up to ten seconds
    •    Plate emulates an analog plate reverb with its unique diffuse sound
    •    Pre delay, decay and damping can be adjusted for all reverb types
    •    Create completely new rooms by using both reverbs with two different types
